PPPoE billing
PPPoE billing that disconnects and reconnects on its own
Give every home and office customer a username, a plan and an expiry date. Wave sends the reminders, issues the invoices, cuts off unpaid accounts and brings them back online the moment they pay.
Quick answer
What is a PPPoE billing system?
A PPPoE billing system manages customers who connect with a PPPoE username and password. It stores each customer’s plan and expiry date, authenticates them through RADIUS, collects payments and disconnects or limits accounts that have not paid. Wave does all of this for MikroTik routers and reconnects customers automatically when they pay with M-Pesa.
What you get
PPPoE billing, done properly.
Speed plans that enforce themselves
Download and upload limits, burst speeds and fair usage caps are sent to the router through RADIUS.
Expiry checked every minute
Accounts that run out are switched off and disconnected on the router, on time, without anyone pressing a button.
Paid means online
An M-Pesa payment extends the plan and reconnects the customer straight away. A payment is never applied twice.
Invoices without paperwork
Wave issues an invoice 5 days before a plan ends, marks it overdue after, and marks it paid when the money arrives.
Reminders that get read
SMS or WhatsApp reminders 1 to 7 days before expiry, in your own words, plus receipts and “plan ended” notices.
Customers help themselves
Subscribers sign in to see their plan, expiry date and invoices and renew with M-Pesa on their own.

Questions
PPPoE billing: your questions answered.
Does Wave disconnect PPPoE customers automatically?
Yes. Wave checks expiry every minute. When a plan ends, the account is marked expired and the customer’s session is disconnected on the MikroTik router.
How do customers get reconnected after paying?
When an M-Pesa payment is confirmed, Wave extends the plan and the customer can connect again straight away. Staff can also record cash payments, which work the same way.
Can I limit speeds and data per package?
Yes. Each package has download and upload speeds, optional burst speeds, and an optional fair usage limit that slows the customer down after a data cap.
Can customers see and pay their invoices?
Yes. Subscribers sign in to their own account page to check their plan, expiry date and invoices and renew with an M-Pesa prompt.
How much does PPPoE billing cost?
KES 25 per active PPPoE or DHCP/IPoE account per month, with a minimum of KES 515 a month across all your services. Suspended accounts are not counted.
